  Saipan-Katori Jinja (Shrine): It was built since the Japanese population started to grow, and during World War II, Katoriyama (the small hill behind the shrine in the photo) was the site of the battle between the Japanese and U.S. forces. As such, the original shrine burned down to the ground only leaving the base of a lantern, and a vertical stone that bears the name of the shrine (not in the photo). This shrine was rebuilt with the permission of the Katori Shrine Association in 1985. The Last Command Post:   One of Japan's World War II defensive fortification from America's attacks. The Last Command Post is the place where Lt. General Yoshitsugu Saito gave out his final order of an all-out attack, who he then, committed suicide on July 07, 1944. These remnants of the tanks were placed out for display in the 1960s.
